UPCOMING EVENTS...

LYDIA FORSON GRABS DEAL IN KENYA

Lydia Forson is the first Ghanaian actress to be selected for Deutsche Welle Academy filmmaking project in Ghana. This project, sponsored by the Academy which is a subsidiary of DW TV, is a two-week intensive training program to equip selected filmmakers across the African continent towards producing an internationally standard film. The film when produced will be circulated in all film festivals across the world.

Congratulations Lydia Forson for being one of those special Ghanaians who stretch to reach and break limits!

CHALE WOTE STREET ART FESTIVAL

The first annual Chale Wote Street Art Festival is to be held in James Town on July 16th. This festival, hosted by ACCRA [dot] ALT, the French Embassy and Institut Francais, would delve gallantly into the world of art – photography, film, music, writing and design. It is also supported by The Ga Mashie Development Agency, the Fund for Contemporary Artists (FCA), Just Ghana, Pidgin Music, Attukwei Art Foundation, The WEB, Ehalakasa Poetry Slam and Dust Magazine.

This maiden edition of a street art festival, promises to be the much needed platform to celebrate and recognize artists, both domestically and internationally. The one-day event has activities scheduled from the Lighthouse in James Town to the old Kings Way Building close to High Street. Activities for the day would include street painting and stencil work, sidewalk painting and chalk art, graffiti murals, roller blade/skate stunting party, Drumfunkbass, live music performances, spoken word, Fashion circus, art workshops and Experimental theatre.

The coordinators of ACCRA [dot] ALT are independent filmmaker, Mantse Aryeequaye and Dr. Sionne Neely, a researcher and writer. The festival organizers are looking to firmly establish CHALE WOTE as the main event for street art in Ghana with ongoing, widespread international participation.

This promises to be an over-the-top exciting event. Come celebrate art and culture in its many different expressions!

MARIO/J HOLIDAY CONCERT

The American R&B artistes, Mario and J Holiday, are to perform and sway the ladies’ hearts to oblivion on the 30th of July at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre.
To help carry what promises to be sensational night would be various Ghanaian artistes such as Atumpan, Stay J, R2bees and Chase.

We hope, however, that most of the night’s performances would be by the crown artistes (Mario and J Holiday) with only quick intermissions with the Ghanaian artistes to allow them breaks. It is only ethical. Ghanaians have had to suffer continuously the injustice of paying heavy amounts to watch a foreign artist perform for only 5 to 10 minutes (Does this ring a bell for a certain Jay Z concert?).

Anyway, with the assurance of the presence of Mario and J holiday, put down the concert in your schedules and represent!

AND MORE…

A night of a 1012 Laughs would be held on the 9th of July at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre.

Asamoah Gyan would be launching his magazine at The Accra mall on the 9th of July.

The Ghana Gospel Awards would be held on the 9th of July at the National Theatre.

There is to be a huge Send-Off Party for the Black Stars on the 9th of July
