ABEN WO HA! – DADDY LUMBA TO BE CELEBRATED AT THE LEGENDS AND LEGACY BALL

The very first of its kind in Ghana, the Legends and Legacy Ball is an annual event which will be staged each year at the Accra International Conference Centre to honour Ghanaian music legends.

Motivated by the belief that legends should not only be celebrated when they are dead, but even more so when they are living, Imajin Advertising in collaboration with Adom FM, have thus established the Legends and Legacy Ball. It hopes to achieve the following objectives:

1.      To stir up the passion of the young and upcoming musicians to work hard to attain the success that the legends celebrated have attained.

2.      To afford the upcoming artiste the opportunity to showcase their unique talents and thereby vend themselves to many.

3.      To celebrate music legends.

The idea is to give legends being celebrated a place of honour at the event, and have their songs serenaded to them by current young musicians. The Legends would also be given awards on the night, in recognition of their hard work, success and contribution to the entertainment industry.

The last performance on the night would be by the legend being celebrated, performing his or her hit tracks. These songs would be decided by votes of fans from a selected number of his or her hit tracks.

This year’s Legends and Legacy Ball would be celebrating Daddy Lumba; an Ghanaian music giant with 27 albums under his belt, responsible for coining so many phrases in our everyday language such as “Bubra”, “poison”, and “aben wo ha”, as well as training and popularizing current artistes such as Felix Owusu, Ofori Amponsah, and Papa Shee.

The first edition of the Legends and Legacy Ball is to be held on the 12th of November. Some artistes to perform that night include Kwao Kesse, Kofi Nti and others. It would definitely be interesting to see Kwao Kesse sing a Daddy Lumba song! Daddy Lumba aka DL, aka Girls’ Prefect would be releasing his 28th album on the fated day titled “Koshie Po”. Unsurprisingly, a controversial title for this controversial artiste.

If you’re a poor man’s son, see it as blessing,” Daddy Lumba says wisely at Press launch of the Legacy and Legends Ball.

It is a great thing to celebrate pioneers of our society.
